Heartwarming, true story of a girl chasing her dream……..

the blurb,,,,,,

“You’re a 15-year-old schoolgirl who has big dreams of becoming a pop star, and then one day you get your lucky break. Polydor records sends you to Copenhagen to make pop music – to make you a recording artist. You get back home and your future is looking brighter than ever – until the High Court writ hits the door mat – you’ve fallen out with your management and they have decided to sue. No, this isn’t a dream, this is now Vicky Nolan’s reality and fast becoming a nightmare, and all while still at school at the sweet age of sixteen.

Read about the trial, the family, Hollywood, London town, the glamour, the dog (eh?) and most importantly, the music. Curiouser and curiouser?

We always talk about ‘making it’ and fulfilling your dreams. The question is, what if you don’t? What happens next? Ultimately, this book speaks about life and family; its hopes and disappointments, its ups and downs. Scrapbook of an Unfound Songstress is in some way a story that speaks to us all, because in the end, the best stories are always true.”

“I’m living my life as consequence of yesterday.
And all of my choices compliment my life today.
There may have been times I could have gone and lost my way,
I could have, I would have, I should have, I don’t care – I’m here now.”

review

Vicky contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in reading her book which is dedicated to all the dreamers.

I totally loved reading this! There are so many references to the sort of music I used to listen to that it felt like I was reading a book written by one of my friends!  Some of the outfit choices most definitely took me back to my school days and some of the hideous things I chose to wear…..embarrassingly the worst was a Newcastle football shirt (black and white vertical stripes), Green camouflage combat trousers, and platform high heeled boots!! Hideous……moving swiftly on!!

Vicky has written this so well, and it’s certainly eye opening! She tells us the story of how she grew up chasing her dream to become a pop star with some absolutely amazing visits on the way…..Hollywood!  However, it’s not all plain sailing and her and her family encounter a messy court case as well as bailiffs turning up at their home!  I felt myself routing for her and her family all the way through, and feeling angry that people can be so mean!

The story is so interesting and gives us a fantastic insight into the trials and tribulations of the music industry.  Vicky manages the issues she encounters in such a grown up way which is amazing for a young teen; how she managed to stay so calm and collected in some of those situations is beyond me!

I really felt like I was getting to know Vicky whilst reading this and loved the relationship she has with her Dad, even if they do fall out sometimes…who doesn’t! (I’m a Daddy’s girl!).  If you’re looking to read something true and heartwarming, or you want to reminisce and go back to the 90’s/early 00’s then you should definitely give this a go!  You can find it to buy on Amazon.

I also really need to add….. Vicky can honestly sing! She has an amazing voice!! When she told me she was training to be the 6th Spice Girl, my reply was “me too”…..then I heard her sing…..I might be able to carry a tune but definitely can’t compete with her amazing talent!! You have to go and check out her YouTube or her instagram!

I’ll certainly be routing for Vicky and hope to see and hear more from her in the future!!! Good luck lovely!!
