Delighted to be on the blog tour today for this very different but brilliant book!

the blurb….

ONE LIFE. LIVED TWICE.

Louis and Louise are the same person born in two different lives. They are separated only by the sex announced by the doctor and a final ‘e’.

They have the same best friends, the same red hair, the same dream of being a writer, the same excellent whistle. They both suffer one catastrophic night, with life-changing consequences.

Thirteen years later, they are both coming home.

my review…..

This book is unlike anything I have ever read before.  It tells the tale of two lives….Louis and Louise who are the same person but either a boy or a girl.  They have the same parents, friends, looks etc but end up leading very different lives.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the book to begin with but I really enjoyed it.  Some of the chapters are just about Louise, some about Louis and some tell us about the things that happened to both Louis and Louise.  Their reasons for leaving behind their hometown of Casablanca and their families were very different but each had a profound effect on their lives…..now they must return.  This brings with it a whole rollercoaster of emotions that they each go through; sadness, truth, forgiveness, love, rediscovery of friendship and loss.

We discover what happened to each of them on the fateful night, how they dealt with it, who knew and how it has effected their lives and personalities, and we find out how they deal with the situation in the present time.

I really enjoyed the way this was written, it wasn’t complicated to follow along with either Louis or Louise’s story and it gives a fantastic insight into how two peoples lives can end up so differently.  My only wish would be that we found out a bit more about what happened to them in the end (we do but I wanted more!).

Overall I really enjoyed this and would most definitely read something from this author again.  Recommended by me!

You can find Louis and Louise on Amazon UK and Amazon US in e-book, paperback or hardback.
