So I started writing this review post last month and completely forgot about it but thought I’d get it up now……

I also recorded an unboxing video so if you’d rather watch that, you can find the link at the bottom of this post.

Even though this month (January!) I have been so poor from Christmas, I thought I’d treat myself (with my Christmas money of course!) to a beauty box from a brand that I haven’t tried before and have only recently heard of……enter the VoBox from VoBeauty!

The brand have 4 different options of boxes on their website, one of which is a ‘build your own’ box – ALL boxes contain cruelty free brands and 2 purely vegan products (Yay!). I opted for the lowest price box which was £10 with £2.90 P&P (minimum of 5 sample & travel sized products).

First impressions

So as always I was so excited when it arrived and couldn’t wait to open it! In my excitement I didn’t get any photos of the packaged product (oops!) but it arrived it a pretty, flowery plastic envelope with the box safely inside. This was tied with a pretty ribbon.

I was a bit confused as I was looking at the products as there didn’t appear to be a list of what was in the box…..although I found it in the bottom eventually!

What did I get?

So I got 4 travel/sample sized products and 1 full size (bonus!).

The first item I pulled out was this benecos shower gel and oh my gosh…..this smells so good! Sanddorn and orange…..so fresh! I’ve got some benecos make up but have never tried other products before so looking forward to using it! This is travel size and RRP is £4.95 for a 200ml.

Next up was perfume from Eden Perfumes. I LOVE this perfumes. I already have a few from other beauty boxes but can definitely never have enough! If you don’t know about this company, they make vegan and cruelty free dupes of well known brands. This is number 309 (Marc Jacobs – Daisy) and it smells EXACTLY like it! You can go on their website, type in your favourite perfume and see if they have a dupe of it. It’s also only £18 for a 30ml bottle! Absolute bargain! I would highly recommend checking them out! www.edenperfumes.co.uk

So next, I pulled out an e.l.f product and wasn’t entirely sure what it was…..(until I found the info card in the bottom of the box). This is what I found:

Yes…..this is MEANT to be a mascara!!! Elf Lengthening and Defining Mascara!

So feeling rather disappointed (as I normally LOVE e.l.f products, I pulled out the next item which was Anatomicals Face Mask.

This isn’t a brand of heard of or used before but it sounds like it will be soothing, thanks to the cucumber. The RRP for this is usually 3 masks for £3.50. Not bad value for money so I’m looking forward to see if this is kind to my sensitive skin.

Lastly, I received Pure Purpose Coffee Scrub (Travel Size). This is a 100% Natural product and contains tea free and peppermint, as well as sheabutter – sounds fab and will be great for my dry and sensitive skin. Again, not a brand I have previously heard of so I’m looking forward to giving this a go and plus for a travel sized product it’s also pretty big!

So, back to the mascara! I contacted the company and they did come back really quickly to apologise and said they’d send out another. Unfortunately they didn’t have the same product so I received a different e.l.f mascara.

The packaging doesn’t tell me what this is meant to be (obviously it’s a mascara (!) but whether it’s lengthening etc!). However, I used this a couple of days ago and it has to be one of the worst mascaras I’ve ever used! It’s so sticky and made me eyelashes stick together. I sneezed a few minutes after applying and my top and bottom lashes attached themselves to each other! I’ve only tried it that once and will give it a second chance but I don’t think this will become one of my regular go to products!

Conclusion

Overall the box was ok. It’s not one of my favourites and I’m not sure I would purchase this particular box again….BUT this isn’t down to the company or the products included, just my personal preference. I think where I’m used to receiving subscription boxes with full sized products, receiving smaller products can be a bit disappointing but this is my own fault as I chose the box with the travel size items! (Lesson learnt!).

If you like samples and travel size products, then I’d recommend giving this a go at least.

I might purchase one of their other boxes in the future to see what that’s like instead – and will of course review here.

I have to give the VoBeauty team credit for that fact that they came back to me so quickly and sent out a new mascara so 10/10 for customer service.

The only other observation I mentioned on my video is that I personally feel that, because this is the lowest priced box, that the wrapping/packaging of the box isn’t as nice as it could be. I’m sure I’ve seen pictures of the higher priced boxes and it seems better wrapped but I could be wrong.

Where can you find them?

I’ve seen VoBeauty on Instagram (which is where I first found them), but their website is: www.vobeauty.co.uk

Have you had a box from VoBeauty? If so, how did you get on? I’d love to hear from you!

Thanks for reading
